Surfing aficionados will not receive any news in this article, as they should already be aware of the latest events. But the curious may not know yet… The World Surf League (WSL) will take place, which released the Championship Tour (CT) 2023 calendar. This CT will serve to determine the 10 male surfers and 8 female surfers who will head to the 2024 Olympics, in Paris. 

The event takes place over 10 stages, and in the middle of the season the surfers will be cut again.

Portugal, as usual, is the stage for one of the stages of this CT that has the following calendar:


1st stage:

January 29-February 10 - Pro Pipeline, at Banzai Pipeline, Hawaii

2nd stage:

February 12-23 - Pro Sunset Beach in Sunset Beach, Hawaii

3rd stage:

March 08-16 - Portugal Pro, in Supertubos, Portugal

4th stage:

April 4-14 - Pro Bells Beach, Bells Beach, Australia

5th stage:

April 20-30: Margaret River Pro in Margaret River, Australia


Cut in surfers: from 36 to 24 men and 18 to 12 women


6th stage:

May 27-28 - Surf Ranch Pro in Lemoore, California, USA

7th stage:

June 09-18 - Surf City El Salvador Pro, El Salvador

8th stage:

June 23-July 1 - Rio Pro, in Saquarema, Brazil

9th stage:

July 13-22 - Open J-Bay, Jeffreys Bay, South Africa

10th stage:

August 11-20 - Tahiti Pro, Teahupo´o, French Polynesia


Subsequently, between September 7th and 15th, Lower Trestles, California, will be the stage for all decisions.
