No. The tour is designed for beginners: before going in the water the guide explains the basic technique (kneeling paddle, standing up, posture and paddle grip). The route follows the coastline in normally calm water and the pace adapts to the group.
The meeting point is Praia da Coelha, Albufeira (pin on Google Maps on our contacts page). You paddle along the golden cliffs between Praia da Coelha, Praia do Castelo and São Rafael, entering sea caves and natural arches and stopping at small beaches that can only be reached from the water.
Children are welcome when accompanied by a responsible adult and able to swim. The minimum age may vary with sea conditions; contact us before booking so we can confirm the best option for your family.
Yes, you need to be able to swim and feel comfortable in the water. Every participant wears a buoyancy vest and the guide stays with the group for the whole route.
Swimwear, towel, sunscreen (applied before you leave), sunglasses with a strap, a cap and water. You can bring your phone for photos, ideally in a waterproof pouch. We provide the board, paddle, leash and vest.
Safety comes first. If sea conditions do not allow a safe departure, our team will contact you to reschedule for another date or refund the amount paid. The tour goes ahead with clouds or light rain; what matters is the state of the sea and the wind.
Yes. The south coast of the Algarve has mild winters, many hours of sunshine and a frequently calm sea between autumn and spring, so we run SUP tours all year, subject to sea conditions. Outside the summer the tours are quieter and the beaches are almost empty.
