Yes. Lessons are aimed at beginners and intermediate surfers. The lesson starts on the sand with theory (safety, reading the ocean, board position and the "pop-up") and a warm-up, then moves into the water with the instructor always by your side.
From 10 years old. Children learn in small groups with boards adapted to their size. Being able to swim is required.
Yes. Lessons are taught by certified instructors with surf coach training from the Portuguese Surfing Federation (FPS) and lifeguard certification. SUPA is a licensed tourism activity company (RNAAT no. 133/2015) with personal accident insurance.
Included: surfboard (soft-top for beginners), wetsuit, rash guard, leash and instructor. Bring swimwear (to wear under the wetsuit), a towel, sunscreen and water.
Galé has waves all year. Spring, autumn and winter bring more consistent swell and empty beaches; in summer the sea is usually smaller and the water warmer, ideal for a first lesson. We teach in every season, depending on sea conditions.
Most students stand up in the white water during their very first 2-hour lesson. Catching green waves on your own usually takes 3 to 5 lessons. If you are in Albufeira for several days, book consecutive lessons to progress faster.
